#1 Swatch with me: Rimmel London ~ Velvet Matte Collection

First swatch post of the year! And gosh are these polishes pretty! Although I am a big fan of all that's sparkly, I do love me a perfect matte!

I've personally bought all five of the Rimmel London Velvet Matte nailpolishes. At first I thought that there were only four in this collection, because I found only four in the drugstore I bought them. But after looking online for some swatches and reviews I found out that I missed one nailpolish. So I had to go back to the town to find the final nailpolish! Three drugstores later and I still hadn't found the nailpolish I wanted. With only one store left that could possibly sell the nailpolishes, I was ready to give up and go home, swatching four polishes is nice too, right? But luckily the last drugstore did sell the last nailpolish I wanted! I was so relieved that I had finally found the nail polish!

The Rimmel Londen nailpolishes are sold for 6,99 euros each. But I bought some with a discount.

For these swatches I wanted to try something different. While swatching the colours, I filmed the swatching progress. I saw this done on multiple nail channels on youtube and thought that this is a fun way to show you the colour and the application of the nailpolish

All of the polishes apply real smooth and easy. The brush is slightly curved at the top which makes it easier to get a neat line at the cuticle but could've been even more curved if you ask me. And even though the brush is curved at the tip, it's not always as even cut around the top.

I always apply two thin (or more if necessary) coats of nailpolish on my nails, and these colours do need two coats. As you can see on the pictures in the video and down below, the first coat isn't completely opaque and the application can look a bit streaky. But this polish does dry pretty quick so applying multiple coats isn't a big problem. And with the second coat, the streaks do disappear!

My favorites out of these five matte nailpolishes are Velvet Touch, Midnight Kiss and Matte-Itude.

I had the idea to make a different nailart with each colour with a shiny topcoat. This did make the video longer than I wanted, but I still like the way they look. And it gives a little twist to the matte nailpolishes. You do have to make sure you work as neatly as possible, because you can't use a topcoat to smooth bumps out! Because you will lose the matte effect! The nail art designs are very simple and are more to show the different between matte and shiny!

I love the shiny french tip and the zebra stripes! Which one do you like the most?

Have fun painting and creating

xoxo
