#34 Diamonds are a girls best friend
I saw a nail art with a diamond a few weeks ago. And ever since that moment I wanted to create my own nail art with a diamond shape in it.
Not long after I saw the picture I was organizing my polishes: I bought a new small cabinet for my polishes that didn't fit on my 'special' polish shelf. And found a perfect combo of polishes. A gold glitter, a gold-ish magnetic polish and a green polish. I immediately thought of the diamond nail art. These colors would be perfect for this nail art! So when I had the time I tried it out. This was the first time I made a diamond like this. I'm not a 100% happy about the result but they still look cool ;)
And I could not finish this blogpost without sharing the person who inspired me to do this nail art: The amazing talented Wannaknowasecret on IG. She makes amazing nail art and has beautiful nails! If you didn't knew her already, make sure you go check her out! ;)
If you are curious on how I made this nail art. Do not fear! I made a tutorial for this nail art!
Just click this link and you will go directly to the tutorial!
Have fun painting and creating,

Blog goals for 2014!
I'm a regular user of Instagram. When I don't post any pictures myself I browse through pictures of other people. Just like I did this evening. The first picture I saw was a list with goals for her blog in 2014.
I got inspired to make my own list of goals I wanted to accomplish this year on my blog. Capitalpolish, the person I saw this original post, had six goals. When I saw her list I was like 'How hard can it be, just think of some goals, and try to reach those goals' Well... thinking of goals was already hard for me! But i've got four goals.
Goal #1 Find a way to make better pictures
I photograph my nails with my Canon camera. I also have a cheap lightbox to make pictures of the polishes and tools I use. But when I want to make photos of my hand/nails, the lightbox is just to clumsy and I can't get a relaxed and beautiful hand pose.
So when I make photos of my hand/nails, I place my camera on my windowsill and use autofocus. But with this method I find the handpose is nice, but the light is just not right.
I also want to buy a better lens for the camera, to make more macro shots.
Goal #2 Start swatching/reviewing Indies
I've always admired people who make their own nail polishes and while I don't own any indie polishes, I think it's time to change that ;)
If you make Indie polishes and you want me to swatch them, just contact me.
Goal #3 Swatch and show my stash
The first polishes I swatched were the 'Superheroes' polishes of Essence. And I must say, before I swatched these, I never thought I would like swatching polishes this much. I saw a lot of swatches pass on my Instagram feed. But I never saw the point of those. Don't know why. But I find it's a lot of fun to swatch polishes, because they almost always look a bit different on your nails than in the bottle.
And finally Goal #4 Minimal of two post per week on my blog
The idea for this goal is that no matter what, I will post at least on tutorial and one other blogpost on here every week. Oh lord. I think this one is going to be the toughest of all. But on the other hand, I am going to swatch a lot more ;) So we will see!

Swatches: Essence Superheroes collection
The Essence Superheroes polishes originally consist of six different polishes: a thermo, a sand effect, a oil effect, a liquid gold and galaxy flakes. I only bought four of the six. I didn't like the galaxy flakes that much and the sand effect was already sold out I think because I didn't saw that one in the store.
In the store the 'Oil slick effect' and the 'Holo effect' were the ones that cought my eye. They both look goregous! But the 'liquid gold' has also a beautiful shine! And the 'Thermo effect' is the first thermo I own, I'm not really happy with the colors because purple makes my hands look very white and cold. And I never really liked the color pink. But the effect this polish gives is very nice.

Holographic Tribal nail art!
I'm starting the year awesome!
I hit 200 followers on Instagram! Which I'm so happy about, I never thought that when I started posting my nail art creations people would starting to follow me. But they did and I'm so thankfull :)And to start this new year, I've finally collected the courage to do a Tribal nail art.
The lines aren't the straightest ever, but for my first try on Tribal nails I think I did pretty well! The colour I chose for the base is a Holographic copper. I only think the colour doesn't match my skin tone.
I'm planning on doing a tribal mani again soon! And trying to use more then one color for the stripes etc! Hope it will work out ;)

2013 Recap
Seven months ago I joined the nail art community. I was watching some videos on Youtube and came across the water marble technique. A few days later I tried this technique for myself. Half a day I was messing around with polishes and a cup of water. But at the end of the day I had the result I was looking for:
Happy and satisfied with the result I posted this picture on my personal Instagram. I got a few likes on the picture and after some time someone commented on the picture too. I replied to that person and, nosy as I am, went to check out her account. All I saw were pictures of nails with nail art, I was amazed!
I always loved painting my nails in the brightest colours possible and I already had a decent amount of polishes. But after I came across the water marble tutorial videos the stash of polishes started to grow. And I began to search for more nail art tutorials, I discovered ProfessionalDG, Cutepolish, Robin Moses Nail Art and many others! I wanted to do what those girls could do. There was only one problem: I didn't had the tools to do so and I didn't knew where I could buy them. But that didn't stop me..
I own a old tool box with tools to make 3d postcards. This tool box belonged to my grandmother and was given to me after she passed away. The contents of that tool box consisted of some glitters, paints, glue and other stuff. And also three dottingtool like pencils. My grandmother used these pencils to make 3d postcards, but they were perfect for doing some nail art as well!
And with one of those dottingtools and a tutorial on youtube (sadly can't find the video anymore) I made my fisrt ever nail art:
After this I made my nail art only Instagram account and started my youtube channel. I just loved the way ProfessionalDQ, Cutepolish etc learned me to do nail art, so I wanted to do the same to others. I wanted to share my nail art and show how others could recreate those designs.
Many nail art tutorials and pictures followed, and I'm not planning on stopping soon ;)

#29 Ice Crystals
Second Christmas themed nail art!
This time I created a nail art with diamond shaped glitters. It was a little bit of a pain to place the glitters on the nail, but with every placement it got easier. The products I used for this mani are listed below. I used a dark blue for my base, but I think that if you want to use a red color for the base this manicure will stil look awesome!
If you feel inspired by this look and recreate it, I would love to see what you did! If you have instagram, just use the hashtag #dutchnailss and I will see your design! :D

#28 First Christmas themed mani: Candy Canes!
Sweet, sweet candy canes, almost want to eat my nails ;)
It's december, the time for christmas themed manis! And I have SO much ideas! Can't wait to show you all!The first mani I made is this candy cane madness! I used a magnetic polish for the base and some red and white acrylic paint to make the cany canes. I never used the magnetic polishes I own. I have three magnetic polishes, didn't liked them at the start, but when I was looking for the polishes I wanted to use for this nail art I saw this kinda red purple magnetic polish and figured 'Why not?' and I'm glad I did! It's a subtle effect underneath the candy canes. But I think it finishes this nail art!
For the first time I made pictures outside, and wow what a difference. It was cold and a bit cloudy. But the pictures are still better than the ones I made inside. It's a bit sad that I discover this when it's getting really cold outside and getting darker earlier.
I made a lot of pictures of this mani because I really like the outcome of this one! Before and after I added the candy canes! ;)

#27 Matt green and blue dots!
These were just to try out something, but I ended up liking them a lot!
I always look around on Instagram, Tumblr, WeHeartIt and Youtube for inspiration on nail designs. And I found a mani with a white base and all different sizes of dots. In different colors. I thought it looked awesome and wanted to try it out. The image I found was with the colors yellow, red and orange. But I decided to try it out with just two colors: a light green and a blue.A few days before I made this mani, I bought new dottingtools! I already wanted to try them out, but somehow couldn't decide on what to make with them, so this came right on time ;)
Also I wanted to use this mani for a (sort of) contest for a toyshop here in the Netherlands. In this toyshop they have a little 'beauty department' with a small amount of nailpolishes, jewelry etc. On one of the shelving there was a note. On that note they were asking for someone who wanted to make how to video's with those products, all you had to do was make a tutorial video and upload that on your youtube channel and send an email with the link to that tutorial video to the organizers of the contest. I wanted to join immediately because I just thought it would be fun to try.
I made this tutorial for this contest, but ended up not sending the mail with the link to the organizers of the contest. I wanted to, but when I got time to edit and upload this video the contest had already ended.. :( Well I don't mind to much, I had fun making this and now it's just a tutorial for my channel! ;)
I didn't use a lot of polishes for this look, for the dots you can just go for one color, or like I did two. But I think you can use a lot more colors and this mani would still look cool!
If you feel inspired by this look and recreate it, I would love to see what you did! If you have instagram, just use the hashtag #dutchnailss and I will see your design! :D

#22 Smiley Faces
Sweet, happy and pink smiley faces!
I made these a while back, didn't liked the result and decided not to post them online. After a few times looking at the pictures of this mani I changed my mind. I'm still not really happy about the endresult, but hey I'm not perfect and my nails arent either ;)I'm from the Netherlands and when I started this blog I wrote all the blogs in dutch. At that time I made a smiley face how to, with step by step photo's. And now my blog is in english I wanted to add a video tutorial! Just because I find seeing someone actually painting her nails easier than copying a design from a photo.
The polishes I used are

#21 Halloween water marble
Messy Halloween Water Marble
Here's another Halloween inspired manicure! A messy water marble. I deliberately choose to make this water marble not so neat and tidy just because I thought Halloween isn't about things being neat and tidy ;)After I finished filming this manicure, I really didn't like the endresult. I thought it looks awful and like someone who never ever ever had done water marbling did my nails. But after a few times, I got used to the look and started to like them. Then I decided to edit the clips and make a tutorial for this manicure, even after I wasn't planning to.
I like the way my index and tumb turned out. Sadly some bubbles popped and you can see the white polish on some spots. But hey, that's a risk with water marbling :)
The polishes I used for this manicure
In the tutorial I already had painted my nails with a base and a white polish. And I taped my nails to help with the clean up afterwards. I will post a tutorial on how I tape my nails soon!
If you feel inspired by this look and recreate it, I would love to see what you did! If you have instagram, just use the hashtag #dutchnailss and I will see your design! :D
